JioPhone is among the first to make use of these new low end processors. The phone has only one sim slot and currently will only support JIO sim cards. The OS on which it is running on is KAI Os which is based on Linux Kernel. Jiophone has a RAM of 512MB and an Internal storage of 4GB which can be expanded 128GB via a microSD card.

The phone sports a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera for video calls. The display is 2.4″ QVGA (320 x 240) TFT Panel. The battery inside the phone is a decent 2000 mAh, Li-ion which is said to give a standby time of upto 15days which is pretty good for the price point.
On the connectivity side, the JioPhone has WiFi (yes you heard us right), it has Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC as well which can be used for secure payments. The JioPhone supports 22 languages. It has an FM Radio which doesn’t require you to plug in a headset to activate it. A bundle of JioApps are preloaded like the JioMusic, JioTV etc.
More Apps will be coming once the device is launched and the development starts. A dedicated App called JioStore is present were we can download more apps(similar to the Google Play Store).
JioPhone also has its own version of Voice assistant which is similar to google. We will be able to open apps, make calls, play songs etc using voice assistant. The center button is dedicated button for launching the Voice Assistant.
One Special feature of JioPhone is that we can connect the phone to TV and watch cinemas and videos in big screen. An additional media cable should be purchased for connecting to TV. These cable will be made available in Jio Stores after the delivery.
The JioPhone will not be having the WiFi hotspot feature. We will not be able to share the internet from the JioPhone to any other device as of now.Its quite obvious why Jio didn’t add that feature, because it might hurt the sales of its portable hotspot Modems called as JioFi devices.
